The one-hour flight begins at the old airport in the city of Ushuaia, where the Aeroclub is located, just a 10-minute walk from the center of the city of Ushuaia.
Upon arrival at the Aeroclub, you will be greeted by one of our pilots who will provide you with all the information regarding the flight that will take place, as well as provide you with safety information.
When everything is ready, you will board one of our eight aircraft, which will have been previously selected by the pilot to best meet your needs. All our aircraft are in perfect condition of maintenance, meeting the most demanding standards in this area.
After takeoff, you will ascend to an average altitude of 3,500 feet, equivalent to approximately 1,150 meters, as you fly over Ushuaia Bay towards the imposing and iconic Monte Olivia and Monte Cinco Hermanos. During the ascent, you will have unparalleled views of the City of Ushuaia.
Passing by the impressive Monte Olivia, we enter the Tierra Mayor Valley where you can see, among other things, the majestic Laguna Esmeralda, the Ojo del Albino Glacier, Monte Alvear and its two glaciers, and Cerro Krund, where the Cerro Castor Winter Center is located. From the plane you can see the slopes and chairlifts of the Cerro perfectly. If it is winter, you can even see the skiers!
We cross the Andes Mountains to the north through the Garibaldi Pass, where we will see Lake Escondido, the Petrel Lodge and Laguna Bombilla; then we will find the immensity of Lake Fagnano (Kami).
Already in the area of Lake Fagnano, we will fly eastwards, being able to see the lakes Yehuin and Chepelmut on the left and the lagoons Santa Laura and San Ricardo on the right. A few kilometres ahead is Tolhuin, a small commune located in the heart of the Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego.
We leave behind the Fagnano Lake sector to fly south to the iconic Estancia Harberton, while we descend to be able to appreciate it up close. Immediately after, we fly over Martillo Island, known for being the home of migratory penguins during the summer season, then we can see the Gable Fronton, located on the island of the same name.
From now on we will fly west towards the city of Ushuaia, always over the Beagle Channel. But there is still much to see: The Channel divides Argentina from Chile, so at this moment we will fly right over the international border. The Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego, on the right, belongs to Argentina; while the Isla Navarino, on the left, belongs to Chile.
On our way to the city we will be able to see Puerto Williams and the Dientes de la Navarino (Chile), Puerto Almanza and its fishing ventures, the tourist ship Monte Sarmiento, which ran aground in Puerto Remolinos in 1935, the Río Encajonado, the Punta Segunda and Túnel estancias, as well as the solitary and world-famous Les Eclareurs Lighthouse, the islands of Lobos and Pájaros.
In the final stage of our flight, we leave the lighthouse area behind to return to Ushuaia Bay, where we fly over the city in descent to land at the Old Airport. It is at this precise moment when we have the best views of the center of the City of Ushuaia.
